For his fall-winter 2016-2017, Antonio Ortega has drawn inspiration from the different cultures vowing love and memory to the deads (“Désirs”, “Longings”, “Añoranzas”). Latin America, more particularly Mexico, as well as India, Russia and China have been the principal sources he took inspiration from. Offerings made to the deads, flowers, gifts, photos, pious images, are translated in the collection by regular touches creating a strong visual common thread.
Lace, laser-cut in the shape of the deceased, floral applications in relief placed on jackets, coats or dresses are predominant. Gold or silver give iridescent reflections adding an extremely rich and joyful feel to the collection.
The Antonio Ortega fashion is made for every moment of the day. Sharp and structured suits, with precious ornaments give life to the day. When the night comes, long dresses attire themselves in shiny sequins. Leather braided by hand as a trellis, used for day suits, mix with structured jackets and multicolored skater skirts. Patterns, mostly designed by Antonio Ortega, delicately revive the memory of our dear deceased. Purple, as well as cardinal red, prevail all along the collection. Humor, fantasy and beauty give rythm to this couture oration.
